confession execution reconciliation sacrament

Christian the Lion

This is a glimpse I think of our reunion with God someday and all of His Creation.

My First Entry

My hope with this blog is to explore how to make this sacrament a more powerful and vital tool for our walk with God. How it can open us up to new areas of growth. How to make it real. Relevant.

In October of 2007 I published my latest book, “101 Inspirational Stories of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It has easily been the most powerful book of the four that I have  done… but breaking through the barrier that so many of us have about going to confession is a tough sell.

I keep coming up with new reasons - new thoughts, why confession is such a “let’s don’t go there” subject. My latest musing today was that most of us have all this negativity floating around inside us already and so we think, “Geesh, the last thing I need to do is take a look at how bad I am!” How is that going to help anything?

But - I am looking at doing things a lot differently. I want to use the Sacrament of Confession as more than just a dumping exercise - but a more valuable tool of looking at what is working in my life and what needs some work or changes.

Everywhere you look there are ten million mentors, coaches and self-help groups ready to plug us into the latest and greatest. Most - like about 99 point 9 are geared to make a buck - but what about something that has been around like forever… has been used by millions of people and is totally free? The Sacrament of Confession is such a HUGE sacrament but most of us.. and I am totally including myself on this… have no idea how to get the most out of it.

So that is what this blog is about….. Exploring… Sharing and Discovering….
